MYSTICAL'S SHEPHERDS

AKC/UKC GERMAN SHEPHERDS FOR SHOW, WORK OR COMPANION

It is with a sad heart that I must place my Gretchen. Since I have moved and divorced now and trying to keep up with the dog shows it is very hard to give all my babies the attention they need. She is a great dog and I love her to death but feel this is the best course of action. Since I have moved my dogs is not with me in my home for this home does not allow dogs, they are on my fathers land which is not far from me, have a huge covered shelter, they are still well taken care of but not the same as when they was able to live with me. You can see photos of Gretchen on her page on my site here. She would be great with a male dog, she is high energy, house trained but toy aggressive (every toy in the world is hers in her mind..lol) She will have to be spayed by adopter before she leaves here, I will set it up with my vet and take her and let her stay here for a week after that to make sure she recovers but the adopter will be responsible for paying. You will get her paper work that I have on her as well. Again I really do not want to do this but things have changed in my life that I could not control.

TIPS FOR BUYERS

* Make sure you if you are suppose to get a written health/hip/elbow guarantee that you get that before you take the dog home.*

*If you ask the breeder to see the other dogs and they do not let you that should be a warning sign that they are hiding something.*

*Ask the breeder when the last time the dog/pup was dewormed and what type, best is Panacur for that will get rid of several types of worms.*

*If  you get a pup that is over 4 mths old it should have it's puppy rabies shot, it is required by law everywhere, if breeder fails to do so that is another warning.*

*Some breeders also run boarding kennels which should be separate and far away from their breeding kennels, if not and they tell you they are run in the same place LOOK ELSEWHERE that is a big red flag, your pup could come home with something. *

1. Do not purchase a puppy on impulse. This is a lifetime purchase which requires a lot of thought and the agreement of all family members. There may be a rearrangement ned in the home, or even the construction of a kennel run in the yard.

2. Do no buy a puppy as a surprise gift for anyone. The surprise may be on you!

3. Do not be too rigid in your requirements like coat color, length, eye color or even the type of dog. Research the ones you like most and go from there, go to shows and see them in person and talk to the breeders/owner/handlers and see if this breed will fit into your lifestyle.

4. Do not select the marking you admire in an adult and expect to find the same in a puppy. Many changes in facial markings take place from puppyhood to adult.

5. While shopping in your area for a puppy, do not repeat what one breeder tells you to the next breeder. Most breeders are friends and may even be comparing notes on prospective buyers.

6. Don't buy a puppy at Christmas time. Everyone is busy with festivities and there is too much excitement for a puppy. Introduce a puppy to the household where there is time for his needs to be put first.

7. If you  can't commit to a dog for life, then don't buy one.

8. Don't buy a puppy  to teach responsibility to your children, you will be the one caring for the puppy soon adult dog. Start them out on something small like fish or a job to do in the house.

9. Remember that the puppy will not stay a cute puppy, he/she will change and grow up to be an adult make sure you are ready for that.
