Mystical's Shepherds is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of VA and was establish in 2003 with our first AKC German Shepherd Mystical's Heaven's Luna, then not long after that we got our first AKC Siberian Husky Heaven's Glaciers Shadow. At that time we didn't have plans for breeding or showing but I started to really get into both breeds, learning and reading everything that I could about them. We started out by doing obedience here locally with both dogs passing and Shadow passing advance obedience. He got his CGC title not long after that. I didn't start breeding until 2005 and I have been doing better ever since. We are now in the show ring doing conformation and I have 3 children that shows in Jr's from time to time. We have been very blessed with the dogs we have and look forward to what the future holds for us.
Having 3 kids and their friends over our dogs get plenty socialized not including dog shows. The animals also go to the vet for check-ups, X-rays, rabies shots and anything else that is needed. I also do OFA after they are 2 years old and CERF. I wait to breed after they are 2 years old, I believe they are too young before that and still growing which the extra weight of pups on the dam can do more harm than good on their growing bones. They will have one maybe two litters a year but I will never have more than one litter at a time. It is too much on myself to care for more than one litter for they can have as many as 10 or more pups. I like to make sure they are well socialized from birth and around all kinds of noises from kids playing to lawn mowers anything that is in a normal household. I like mine to be strong, confident, beautiful dogs that is first and foremost a great family dog.
We are a very active family. I work at KFC?LJS, care for the kids, house and the animals. I am a coach for my daughter's cheerleading team. My daughter Cheyenne is also a Jr. Handler of a Tibetan Spaniel but would LOVE to handle a long coat Chi. My middle son Braden is active in Soccer, a Jr. Handler, Tibetan Spaniel but still looking for the right dog to handle. Then my oldest Steven is in band sometimes he shows in Jr's. There is never a dull moment in this house.
